Die Sandalen von Nomadic State of Mind werden auf einer stillgelegten Kaffeefarm in Nicaragua unter fairen Bedingungen handgefertigt. Begonnen hat die Geschichte von Nomadic State of Mind mit Chris Anderson, der die Sandalen damals noch aus seinem VW-Bus verkaufte. Anfang 2002 brachte er seinen Freunden in Nicaragua die Herstellung von Seilsandalen bei. Von Beginn an wurde darauf geachtet, dass alle Beteiligten Spaß bei ihrem Job haben und gut bezahlt werden. Die Sandalen in Handarbeit aus Seil herzustellen ist ein zeitintensiver Prozess. Seit der Gründung arbeitet Nomadic State of Mind mit der gleichen Gruppe von Leuten zusammen. Bei jedem Fertigungsschritt achtet das Team von Chris auf Nachhaltigkeit und Umweltverträglichkeit. Die Materialien, die bei der Sandalenproduktion übrigbleiben, werden für Teppiche, Handtaschen oder andere Accessoires weiterverwendet, die wiederum Arbeit und Einkommen während der Nebensaison sichern. Das Ziel von Nomadic State of Mind ist es, Produkte zu kreieren, die keinen Müll verursachen – und sie sind schon ziemlich nah dran: Etwa 85% der Abfälle werden für die Herstellung anderer Produkte ökoeffektiv weiterverwendet. Alle Produkte sind schadstofffrei, hautverträglich und vegan. Es werden also keine Leder-, Woll- oder sonstige Tierprodukte verwendet. Auch der für die Sohlen verwendete Klebstoff kommt ohne tierische Zutaten aus.
The rope-sandals by Nomadics are handmade under fair conditions on a abandoned coffee farm in Nicaragua. The story of "Nomadic State of Mind" began with Chris Anderson, who sold the sandals from his VW bus. At the beginning of 2002 he taught his friends in Nicaragua how to make rope sandals. Right from the beginning, he made sure that everyone involved enjoy their job and are well paid. The hand made production of rope sandals is a time-consuming process. Since its launch, Nomadic State of Mind has been working with the same group of people. Chris' team takes care of sustainability and environmental compatibility on every production step. The left over materials are reused for carpets, handbags and other accessories, which provide additional work and income during the off-season. Nomadic State of Mind's goal is to create products which don't produce garbage – and they're already pretty close: about 85% of leftovers are used to make other products eco-effectively. All products are free of harmful substances, skin-friendly and vegan, as no leather, wool or other animal products are used. Even the the soles glue does not contain any animal ingredients.
